Possible Problems for Motorcycle
I have starting problem with my Vehicle
- Check if the kill switch is in OFF position. Put it in ON position.
- Check that the fuel clock is at the respective Reserve or ON position.
- Check the fuel in the fuel tank, fill to usable reserve if found less.
- Check spark plug cap for firm fitment.
- Check spark for no fouling (Short).
- Check for no overflow of fuel from carburetor drain pipe.
- Check for Air filter clogged (Icon will pop-up on speedometer....Applicable for Pulsar DTSi 200/220 cc.).
Vehicle does not start in the mornings
- Use chock to start the bike. When chock applied do not open the accelerator.
- Check idling rpm - If too less approach the authorized dealer workshop for correct adjustment.
- Incorrect carburetor setting . Approach the authorized dealer workshop for correct adjustment.
- Check the fuel quality in the fuel tank. If suspected change the fuel.
- Leakage in the intake manifold. Approach the authorized dealer workshop for correct adjustment.
My Vehicle is giving low mileage, what can I do ?
- 1. Check the idling rpm. It should be specific
- 2. Air filter might be clogged. Get it cleaned from authorized dealers workshop.
- 3. Check freely opening & closing of chock lever / knob. If sticky get it repaired.
- 4. Check both wheels for free rotation.
- 5. Check all control cables for free operation.
- 6. Get the carburetor tuned for optimum performance.
- 7. Confirm that there is no leakage / theft of fuel happening.
- 8. Always fill the fuel at reputed fuel pump.
- 9. Maintain correct tyre pressure & check it periodically.
- 10. Never park the bike in direct sunlight to avoid evaporation of fuel.
- 11. Drive the bike in economy zone displayed on speedometer.
- 12. Avoid sudden Braking & Acceleration.
Self-starter is not working
- 1. Check the battery condition.(A Low battery voltage icon will pop up on speedometer ....Applicable to XCD & Pulsar DTSi models) If battery is discharged then self start is not possible. Push Start or Kick Start the vehicle & approach authorized dealer workshop for necessary repairs.
- 2. Blown Fuse - Replace it.
The engine starts but stops immediately
- 1. Check fuel in the fuel tank. Fill fuel to usable reserve if found less.
- 2. Air filter intake passage must have blocked by keeping duster / cloth below the seat.
Engine stalls when I try to race
- 1. Check fuel in the fuel tank. Fill fuel to usable reserve if found less

- 3. Check that the fuel cock is placed the respective position (ON or Reserve)
Pick-up for the vehicle is poor
- 1. Check fuel for no adulteration / contamination. If suspected replace fuel.
- 2. Air filter might have clogged.
- 3. Wheels are not freely rotating.
- 4. Breaks are tight.
There is excess smoke in the exhaust
- 1. Check fuel if it is contaminated / Adulterated. Replace the fuel.
- 2. Somebody might had injected oil in silencer tail end. Drive for some kms & confirm for smoke.
- 3. Air filter might be clogged. Get it cleaned from authorized workshop.
- 4. Check for carburetor overflow. If overflow is seen get it repaired from authorized dealers workshop.
- 5. Check clutch lever free play. Adjust if required.
- 6. Check cable for jam operation - get it replaced from authorized dealer workshop.
- 7. Check if gear change lever is fauling with rider footrest.
- 8. Gear changer lever / shaft bend due to accidental impact.
- 9. Worn Out Clutch plates. Get it replaced from authorized dealer workshop.
Gear does not engage properly ( False Neutral )
- 1. Check clutch lever free play. Adjust if required.
- 2. Check cable for jam operation - get it replaced from authorized dealer workshop.
- 3. Check if gear change lever is fauling with rider footrest.
- 4. Gear changer lever / shaft bend due to accidental impact.
- 5. Worn Out Clutch plates. Get it replaced from authorized dealer workshop.
Have problem climbing slope
- 1. Check fuel for no adulteration / contamination.
- 2. Air filter might have clogged. Get it cleaned from authorized dealers workshop.
- 3. Incorrect carburetor adjustment. Get it tuned from authorized dealers workshop.
- 4. Worn out clutch plates. Get it replaced from authorized dealers workshop.
Oil leakage from engine
- 1. Check the oil level through oil inspection window / Dip stick.
- 2. Top up the level up to the minimum level Mark & approach the authorized workshop for necessary repairs immediately.
The disc brakes are giving a noise when applied
- 1. Check brake disc it should be free from mud & dirt accumulation. Clean it with a cloth if required.
- 2. Check break pads. It should be free from dust & mud accumulation. Clean it If noise still persists approach the authorized dealer workshop for necessary repairs.
Chain is creating noise
- 1. Park the vehicle on main stand & rotate the rear wheel.
- 2. Check if the drive chain is loose & running dry.
- 3. Lubricate the chain if possible or approach the authorized dealer workshop for necessary repairs.
Horn is very feeble
- 1. Press the horn button firmly.
- 2. Check if the battery is discharged. If battery discharged approach to authorized dealer workshop for repairs.
Horn works only when the engine is running
1. Battery is discharged or fuse must have blown off. Approach to authorized dealer workshop for necessary repairs.
Lights are not working
- 1. AC light not working: Check light ON-OFF switch button for smooth operation. If jammed or knob broken approach to authorized dealer workshop for necessary repairs.
- 2. DC light not working : Battery is discharged or fuse blown OFF. Approach the authorized dealer workshop for necessary repairs.
Lights are Dim
- 1. Check the head light glass externally clean if required.
- 2. If the glass is found foggy / dusty from inner side get the glass cleaned or replace the head light reflector from authorized dealers workshop.
The disc brakes are not working properly
- 1. Check brake fluid in master cylinder for correct level. If not Top up to the Minimum level through authorized dealers workshop.
- 2. Check the break lever for breakage / Bend. Replace it if required.
Gear changing is very hard
- 1. Check clutch lever freeness. / free play.
- 2. Check clutch cable for sticky / jam in operation.
- 3. Approach the authorized dealers workshop for necessary repairs.

SAFE RIDING TIPS
DO's
- Always wear a Standard helmet and lighten chin band while driving.
- Never use mobile phones while driving.
- Always keep rear view mirrors clean.
- Use both, front and rear brakes simultaneously. Applying only one brake may cause loss of control & skidding or diving.
- Avoid sudden and harsh braking.

- Fill petrol at reputed petrol pumps.

- Never use mobile phones while driving.

FUEL SAVING TIPS

- Drive in economy zone; at a constant speed @ 40-50 kmph in top gear.
- Check & refill tyre pressure once in a week.
DON'T
- Do not keep the clutch lever pressed while riding.
- Do not run the engine in low gear for long.
- Do not keep the brake pedal pressed while riding.
- Do not rev the bike during traffic halts. Switch off the engine if the halt is longer than 30 seconds.
- Do not cover the engine on the front and sides. This may restrict the smooth air flow to the engine fins required for air cooling.

SAFE RIDING TIPS
Brake
- When down shifting to the lower gear, change the gear at appropriate engine speed.
- When parking the vehicle apply the parking brake and shift the gear into reverse or first gear.
Ignition key
- Always remove the ignition key, when leaving the vehicle even for a short time.
Clutch lever
- Do not drive with the clutch lever in pressed condition. It could result in excessive clutch wear, clutch damage, or expected loss of engine braking.
FUEL SAVING TIPS
- Ride smoothly & steadily at an optimum driving speed of 30-40 kmph.
- Avoid sudden acceleration & frequent or sudden braking.
- Avoid driving with foot on brake pedal.
- Avoid driving with partial disengaging of clutch (half clutch).
- Avoid overloading and driving at high speeds.
- Avoid over or under inflating the tyres.
- Do not keep the engine running at traffic signals during longer red lights.
